Adrian "Dutch/Gramp" Broekhuizen, 102, of Baldwinsville. Born Crookston, Minnesota March 1922. He had 7 siblings who all predeceased him. He lived most of his life in Central New York. Formerly living in Liverpool until 2017 then moving to Baldwinsville with his Granddaughter and Caretaker.
Served in WWII Army 1942-1945 Technical Sargent with 180th infantry of the 45th Division. Decorated Army Veteran with 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts with clusters also several battle stars for the European Theater.
Life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Combat Wounded Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Liverpool American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Phoenix.
Retired from General Electric after 28 years of service as a Mechanical Technician and Plumber. After retiring he would go fishing and hunting. He loved to work in his flower gardens and vegetable garden.
He married the love of his life on February 14, 1942 Eleanora Jane House. They were married 65 years until her death in 2007. He is predeceased by son and Daughter in Law Gerald (Sally).
He is survived by his son Daniel (Verna) Broekhuizen of NC, Granddaughters Vicki of Baldwinsville, Gretchen (Brian) Baute of NC, Heidi of NC and Wendelyn (Jesse) Mitchell of VA, Great Grandchildren Cameron (Kacy) Baute, Kierstin Baute, Raegan Baute, Caedon Baute, Dalton and Ellie Mitchell. Several nieces, nephews and his cat buddy Sammy.
Services will be held at Gates Funeral Home Baldwinsville on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 10-1. Burial will be immediately following the wake.
