Carolyn Anne Menzel

Carolyn Anne Menzel of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 72.

Carolyn was born August 7, 1950 in Syracuse. She moved several times with her family when she was younger and graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA in 1968 and attended business school. Carolyn was an avid cat lover and owner of Bluebijou Cattery where she bred and raised Chartreaux cats. She also loved camping in the Adirondacks and made great memories over the years camping with friends and family. Carolyn retired from Onondaga County where she was known as a reliable, smart, hardworking Accounting Supervisor for the Department of Social Services.

She is preceded by her mother and father Jean and Frederick Quell. Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years Douglas Menzel, son Brian Menzel (Karen Havenstrite), daughter Cheryl Vollmer (Benjamin Vollmer), and grandsons Warren Vollmer, Mason Menzel and Madison Menzel. Carolyn also leaves behind her 4 siblings, Peter Quell (wife: Joan Quell, children: Casey and Danny), Chris Norton (children: Racheal and Joshua), Connie DiMond (husband: Bill DiMond), Richard Quell (wife: Susan Jacobs, children: Samantha and Elisabeth).

The family will receive friends at Gates Funeral Home at 29 W. Genesee St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027 after the New Year.
