Donna J (Brennan) Bemis

Donna Jeanette Brennan Bemis, 80, of Jordan, daughter of Bertha and Donald Brennan, passed away holding hands with her husband of 61 years on November 17, 2020 in the home that they built together.  She was born in Jordan, New York on September 7, 1940 and lived in the area her whole life.  Donna started her working life at GMAC as head bookkeeper where she earned many awards for her diligence and attention to detail.  She married Terry G. Bemis on June 27, 1959 and left GMAC when she started her family with Terry in 1961.  In 1968 Donna was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness and worshipped in the Baldwinsville congregation.  Donna went on to have 4 children and was a full time homemaker while they were growing up.  Donna had many talents and interests: she was a fabulous cook, talented artist and seamstress, loved to fish and camp with Terry and friends, enjoyed many travel adventures, dining out, and sharing her faith in God with everyone.  Donna also loved animals—she loved to visit zoos around the country and was an avid bird watcher.  As busy as she was Donna worked as a home health aide because she enjoyed helping people.  When Terry retired they continued their adventures and went to Alaska to see their grandson on their 50th anniversary.   

She is survived by her husband, Terry G. Bemis; her children, Christine (John) Ryan, Brian (Melissa) Bemis, Sharyl (Vinny) Smith and Shawn (Shelly) Bemis; grandchildren: Angela (Tommy), John Paul, Tasia, Bethanie, Brennan, Joel (Jacqueline), and Stephen; her brother Charles (Laverne) Brennan; her brother-in-law Thomas Bemis and several nieces and nephews.  There will be a Celebration of Life in the spring to be announced.  Contributions can be made to the Auburn Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2468 Willowbrook Rd., Auburn NY 13021, if so desired.
