Emma Elizabeth Matzke Markham 89, Died August 24, 2018 at Oswego Hospital. Born in Phoenix, NY November 26, 1928 to the late John & Anna Fisher Matzke who emigrated here from Bohemia in the 1920s. Over the years Emma worked at many jobs including General Electric at Electronics Park in Liverpool, F.W. Woolworth, Whitcomb’s country store in Lysander, Super Duper in Baldwinsville and as a line worker at Pass & Seymour in Solvay where she retired in 1993. Predeceased by husband Maysel C. Markham Jr. in 1964, & brothers Fred Matzke, John Matzke & Frank Matzke, daughter-in-law Kathy Markham, son-in-law Marty Race. Survived by: sons: Maysel Markham III (Peg), Fred Markham (Linda), Albert Markham (Mary), daughter Louise Race, 9 grandchildren: Kim Lacey (Lorelei), Maysel Markham IV, Lance Race (Tina), Heather Race (Kevin), Scott Race (Cathy), David Markham (Michelle), Amanda Markham (Melinda Stevens), Nicholas Markham (Sarah), Bianca Markham,13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Emma lived for the last few years at St. Francis Commons assisted living in Oswego where she was treated respectfully. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and management for her excellent care. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Francis Commons 12 Burkle Street Oswego, NY 13126 Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 30, 4:00 to 7:00 at Gates Funeral Home, 29 West Genesee Street, Baldwinsville. Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at Jacksonville Cemetery.
