Eugene A Ellis Sr.

Eugene Alexander Ellis Sr, 94, of Baldwinsville, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, died peacefully in his sleep with family by his side June 1, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital.  He was born in Lewistown, Pa, son of the late Robert and Maude Ellis.  Eugene was married to Phyllis (Smoker) for 62 years before her passing October 6, 2010.  Eugene worked at Allied Chemical for 35 years until the plant closed down in 1985.  Eugene was an active  member of the Seneca River Lodge, Royal Arch Masons (Grand High Priest of New York 1991) and a Past DeMolay Advisor for many years.  He was a big sports fan including his favorites  (Yankees, Eagles, Penn St.)  He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, reading, playing Texas Hold'em and crossword puzzles.  Surviving him are sons, Eugene Jr. (Dawn) and Andrew (Laurie); grandchildren, Joshua(Chrissy), Nicholas(Alona), Matthew and Kristina; great-granddaughters, Kiarra, Sasha; great-grandsons, Keegan, Payton, Cameron and many nieces and nephews. He kept his sense of humor to the end.  Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday June 7th at the Gates Funeral Home,  29 W. Genesee Street, Baldwinsville.  Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Gates Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in the name of Phyllis Ellis.
