Harold Wheeler Obituary

Harold C. Wheeler October 16, 2020 Harold C. Wheeler, 83 of Phoenix, NY, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He served in the US Army from 1954-1957. After the military, he started his long career at the NYS Fairgrounds in 1958, retiring 43 years later in 2001. Harold looked forward to the fair every year so he could see some of his old friends. One of his fondest memories was being featured as one of Duffy's people when Nancy Duffy from Channel 9 interviewed him about numerous changes he had seen throughout his years at the fair. Harold loved hunting and fishing but most of all he cherished time with his family. He will be missed by anyone who knew him. He was born to Harold Wheeler, Sr. and his mother, Rose. He was predeceased by his 3 siblings, Rosemarie Harrington, Ednamay Neider and Jack Wheeler. Surviving: two sons, Harold (Chris) of Syracuse, Howard (Kim) of PA and a daughter, Heidi of Baldwinsville; six grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Joyce) of NC; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Friday, October 23, 2020 from 5-7 PM at Gates Funeral Home, 29 W. Genesee Street, Baldwinsville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O Box 96860, Washington, DC 20077-7677. (woundedwarriorproject.org)
