James Aust

James (Jim) Aust, age 80, died Monday October 16, 2023 at The Nottingham after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jim leaves his former wife and dedicated caregiver Adrienne (DiFrancesco) of Baldwinsville, NY, daughters Kimberly (grandsons Sam and Jay) of Charlotte, NC and Kristen (granddaughter Sofia) of Syracuse, NY, sons David, married to Melissa (Bulger) (grandsons Lucas, Ethan and Max) of Penfield, NY and Brian of Syracuse, NY; and siblings Mary Agnes, married to James Roccio; Barbara, married to Thomas Kenefake; Kathleen; Louis, married to Louise (Sherlock); Paul, formerly married to Lynn (Buchanan); and Charles, along with several nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his parents Louis and Catherine, and brother Michael.

Jim grew up in Johnstown, PA where he developed his skills as an auto-mechanic. After serving his country in the US Army, Jim spent several years in eastern Ohio where he worked and went to school, eventually earning his degree in Industrial Management from Youngstown State. Jim then moved to Baldwinsville, NY to raise his family, working at the Miller brewery for almost 20 years, followed by jobs at Syracuse Trailer and the Liverpool Bus Garage. After retirement, Jim lived in Roaming Shores, OH and Plainville, NY. Jim was active in his community, serving on the Town of Lysander Planning Board, and driving for Disabled American Veterans.  

Calling hours will be held 10/27 from 4-7pm at Gates Funeral Home in Baldwinsville, NY. A funeral mass at St. Mary’s Baldwinsville will be held 10/28 at noon. Interment will be private.
