Joan E. Garrison, 76, of Cato, passed away January 23rd at home surrounded by her family. Born December 28, 1948 in Baldwinsville, to Edwin and Gertrude Nesbitt Sr.
Surviving are her husband of 18 years, Richard; children, Beth (Shawn) Bailey of Fresno, CA, Cristi (Chris) Fowler of Newark, NY, Katherine (Robert) D’Agostino of Conway, AR, RC (Nicole) Smith of Cato, step-son Chris Garrison of Cato, NY; 15 grandchildren; siblings, Jean (Barb) Biser-Fish of Frederick, MD, Fred (Avis) Nesbitt of Cato, NY, Jane (Roger) Gadsby of Auburn, NY, and Theodore (Barb) Nesbitt of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law Diane Nesbitt of Cato, NY; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joan is predeceased by both her parents, her brother, Edwin Nesbitt Jr and her infant sister Janet.
Joan’s passion for her Faith in God was evident in how she raised and dedicated her life to her children. Her love for her grandchildren, Sullivan, Madeline, Sarah, Lilyana, Erynn, Clara, Brody, Isabelle, Brayden, Alex, Morgan, Jordan, Joshua, Joel and Shane was endless.
Joan graduated from Auburn Nursing School as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated her life to caring for the elderly and retired from Oswego County Hospice. Her commitment to Service was reflected in her membership in Brutus-Cato Star Chapter of the Order of Eastern Stars.
Private Services will be held at the Jacksonville Faith Community Church where she was a devoted member. Interment will be held at a future date in the spring in Lysander. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Joan’s name to Hospice of CNY or Jacksonville Faith Community Church.
