Lee W. Bort
June 13, 2024
On July 4, 1947, Lee W. Bort came into this world and left peacefully in his sleep at home on June 13, 2024. After 37 years apart, Lee has been reunited with his beloved mother Irene in heaven.
Lee married Katherine M. (Evans,) in 1968. Together they had 6 children, Jeff (Linda), Kimberly, Jennifer (Milton), Scott (Nate) Kelly (Andy) and Douglas (Rachel). Lee's greatest joys were his grandchildren Justin (Emily), Kayla, Brandon (Jeanna), Hunter, Emma, Sarah, Brooke, Christa and Sammy, and great grandchildren Mathew, Liam, Adalyne, Francis and Kinslee. Lee was so proud of each of them that he wore a "Papa" t-shirt displaying their names. With each new addition, he'd say " time to order a new shirt". Lee was predeceased by his father Clarance, brothers Dougie and Bob and nephew Christopher Smith. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay, sister Betty, brother Darrell (Stella), sister-in-law Janet Evans, brother-in-law Mike Evans (Kathy), sister-in-law Linda Bort, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Lee proudly served his country in the US Army in 1966 as Specialist 4th Class. He served in Vietnam August 1967-August 1968 H Troop 17th Calvary with the armored division as a machine gunner on an armored personnel carrier Lee retired from Ehrlich Pest Control as a certified technician. Lee had a love for all things nature. Fishing, hunting, camping and spending hours in his backyard with Kay feeding all their critters.
Lee's family would like to thank his "life long" friends Matt Kouwe, Keith Ross and Johnny Berrios for being way more than friends could ever be, they are family.
