Leonard C. “Lenny” Rhoades, 63, of Chittenango, NY, and formerly of Cato, NY, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2025. He was born on May 8, 1962, in Syracuse, NY, to Robert Rhoades and Lorraine (Holbrook) Elmer.
A few years after graduating he moved to Oregon, where he enjoyed hunting and worked alongside his uncle. In returning to New York, he spent his years working as a skilled mechanic.
Lenny was known for his easygoing nature and warm sense of humor. Throughout his life, he had a wide circle of friends whom he cherished spending time with. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors whether that was fishing, hunting, or playing horseshoes.
He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Elmer; his youngest daughter, Elisa (Matt) Rucco, his eldest daughter, Jacke-lyn Rhoades; stepson, Travis (Jamie) Katura; four grandchildren; siblings, Lonnie Rhoades, Laura Rhoades and John Rhoades; and his aunts, uncle, cousins and many close friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert Rhoades, and stepfather, Kenneth Elmer.
We will miss you forever; you will always be in our hearts.
Calling hours will be held from 4–7 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Gates Funeral Home, 29 W Genesee St, Baldwinsville. Services and burial will be private. Burial will take place at Cato Union Cemetery.
