Linda Hobbick Obituary

Linda A. Hobbick January 25, 2023 Linda A. Hobbick, 76, of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away on January 25th at Upstate Medical Center after an arduous battle with Metastatic Lung Cancer. Linda was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 7, 1946 to Forrest & Gwendolyn (Hallgren) Hobbick. She was raised in the close knit community of West Frankfort, NY with her siblings where they enjoyed an idyllic childhood and upbringing. Upon graduating from Frankfort Schuyler High School in 1964, Linda embarked on her Nursing career attending Meriden School of Nursing in Meriden, Connecticut. During her matriculation, Linda was elected and proudly served as "Miss Student Nurse of the State Connecticut" where she traveled to different educational institutions actively recruiting nursing students while being the face and persona of their Nursing program. Linda's illustrious career spanned over 47 years in the Syracuse area beginning in private practice with Dr. Carl Worboys, General Practitioner. In addition to running the practice, Linda kept very busy by picking up extra shifts at local hospitals Upstate Medical Center and Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital all the while continuing her nursing education and earning her Bachelor's Degree at SUNY Upper Division College in Utica, NY. In 1986, upon the retirement of Dr. Worboys, Linda began her 30+ year career at the Syracuse Veteran's Administration / Medical Center. During her tenure, Linda attended Syracuse University where she earned her Masters of Nursing Administration, Magna Cum Laude. Her vast experience and continuing education helped to her to earn vital positions within the Veteran's Administration, Including: Operations Manager of Outpatient Services, Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Care, VISN 2 Director /Geriatrics and ultimately VA Upstate NY Director of Geriatrics/Extended Care at VA Healthcare. Linda's love of history fueled her passion for travel and she spent as much time as she could traveling domestically, internationally and spending time with cherished friends and family at her charming cabin in the woods located in Old Forge, NY. Linda is predeceased by her parents, Forrest & Gwendolyn Hobbick, her Beloved Aunt Vivian Christopherson (Hallgren), Beloved Uncle Warren Christopherson, And Brother-in Law Patrick A. Nasto. She is survived by her siblings: Pam Nasto (Hobbick) of Syracuse, NY; Forrest (Butch) E. Hobbick II of Baldwinsville, NY and David J. Hobbick (Grace) of Austin, Texas. She also leaves: (Niece) Kelly Nasto, (Nephew) Samuel J. Nasto, (Nephew) Forrest E. Hobbick III,(Nephew) Christopher Hobbick, (Niece) Janice Murray (Hobbick), (Niece) Jessica Sprague (Hobbick) as well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews and many cherished friends and colleagues. Calling hours will be on Saturday, 2/4 at Gates Funeral Home in Baldwinsville, NY from 11 am to 12 pm with funeral service immediately following.
