Marion M. Roloff (“Mom”) passed away on October 5 th at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She had been surrounded by all 6 children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren during her 9-day hospital stay. Marion was born to Frank and Esther Runge in Tonawanda, New York on February 13,1930. She met John Roloff of Buffalo at a roller-skating rink and they were married in 1948. They settled on Oswego St. in Baldwinsville with 5 of their children in 1963.
Their 6 th child was born later that year. John had accepted the head principal position at the newly-built McNamara School in Baldwinsville. John and Marion quickly became pillars of the community, the school district and at their church, First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville. She was a stay-at-home Mom and she also became “Mom” to many foreign exchange students, neighborhood children and friends of her own kids.
Marion lived alone in her patio home in Village Green after John’s death in 2013 until her daughter, Roberta, moved in with her 6 years ago. She continued to be very involved with her church and family. Marion only stopped driving a car 3 years ago. Marion is survived by her children Bruce (Wendy), Paul (Ellyn), Laura Lee (Tracy), Claude, Roberta and Carol. She was also deeply loved by her Chilean son Ricardo (Pattie), 13 grandchildren, 6 grandchildren-in-law and 13 great-grandchildren.
There are no services planned at this time. A celebration of life will take place in the spring. Arrangements are being made with Gates Funeral Home in Baldwinsville. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Baldwinsville, Humane Society of CNY or American Diabetes Association.
We will forge forward with her spirit in our hearts and her wisdom on our minds.
