Mark S. Augustus, 70, of Memphis, New York entered his next journey on January 28, 2024
after an in creditable battle from Leukemia treatment. Born in Watertown, New York, second
son to Carlton and Mary (Toper) Augustus.
Mark graduated from Clark University, summa cum laude in 1976. He started his life time
dream career as a Baldwinsville Police officer in 1977; He retired as Sergeant in 1997. After
retirement Mark went to work for State Farm Insurance and there he worked for another 20
years as a fraud investigator.
Mark was an avid outdoorsmen, he loved being in the wood together with nature, If an
occasional deer come by it was a good day. Mark enjoyed our family camp at Kasoag Lake
where he was actively involved for many years and was President of Lake Association for 4
years.
Mark was a good man and will live in the hearts of many. Survived by his wife Mary (Brayton)
Augustus of 43 years. His loving daughter Alecia (Monteleone) Kollbaum, his beloved
grandsons Jesse and Ayden Monteleone. Mark’s brother, Patrick (Brenda) Augustus from
Chateaugay, New York and also his two buddies, Carlton the cat Augustus and Tilly May.
A special thank you to the many teams of doctors, nurses from Strong Memorial Hospital in
Rochester New York, HOA staff of CNY and the teams of nurses from Brittonfield. Their love &
care was a God sent throughout the years. To all our friends for the love you’ve given
us…Thank-you.
Mark wanted me to say, “if don’t remember some of the crazy things he did or said in his life,
you weren’t paying attention.”
Calling hours will be Friday, February 2, 2024 at Gates Funeral Home, 29 W. Genesee Street,
Baldwinsville, New York from 4:00 to 7:00pm. Grave side burial & services will be Saturday
February 3, 2024 at 11:00am at Kingdom Cemetery, Baldwinsville New York.
