Roy Campbell Obituary

July 25, 2024
Roy Campbell, 86, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Papa), brother, uncle, and friend to many. Roy was born in Aurelius, NY, and resided in Cato for most of his life.
Roy, born dairy farmer, ran a family farm with his son Jayson for most of his life, operating many years beyond when family farms were still common. It was not just a job to him it was a passion, the smell of freshly turned soil, hay ready to be baled. The animals were more than just a livelihood, he knew each animals' personality and chose not to eat beef out of respect for his cows. He believed in serving his community and was a Town Councilman for 37 years and served as a volunteer fireman in Ira. Always willing to tell a tale or make a joke, he was loved and respected by many. Truly Old School.
Roy was married to the love of his life, Sofie Campbell, for 65 years. He is survived by Sofie, his three children: Jayson (Jill) Campbell, Kathy (Marcel) Pouliot, and April (Harry) Warner. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Jesse (Joy) Campbell, Aaron (Lauren) Campbell, Steven (Megan) Swope, Andrew Campbell, David Swope, Mallory (Andrew) Warner, Harrison (Hannah) Warner, and Alyssa (Dustin) Hampton, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friends. His sisters Betty Andrews and Valerie (Samuel) Morales, brothers Ray and Lee all survive him. He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters Vivian and Joanne.
Calling hours will be 2:00 to 4:00 pm with services following on Saturday, August 3, at Gates Funeral Home. The burial will be at a later date.
To remember Roy in a special way, in lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp and to enjoy a walk in God's beautiful nature.
